How much of a twat are you?

Something happened today to remind me of the program you can run on Bus Flow Modelling here.

Whilst I was at the site I had a good look round and found a few gems here. I loved the ‘How much of a twat are you?’ questionaire. My score, however, is not going to be disclosed! Next I must “Find out whether you’ll make it into heaven AND where you’ll be seated!”. I don’t hold out a great deal of hope on that one either.

Winchester Farmers’ Market

A comment was posted to the previous entry saying “I went to the farmers market & there were very few stalls”.

That’s absolutely right!

The number of stalls, rather surprisingly, started to drop off before Christmas. Sunday was almost pitiful :-( I asked the Market Manager about it and got a lot of ‘PR type’ speak to explain the reduced number of stalls none of which rang true. He claimed there were 55 stalls there on Sunday and when I countered that there must have been around 100 this time last year he let slip that the market peaked at 98. That’s 100 in my language!

Our purchases were:

1 x piece belly pork (eaten last night together with sprout tops etc)
2 x 1 litre organic Guernsey milk
1/2 pt Guernsey cream
1 x large crab (tonights dinner in the form of crab cakes with mango salsa and French Fries. The shell was then used to make 1 litre of crab bisque)
1 x bag Selsey prawns
1 x bag Brussel Sprout tops
2 x parsnips
1 x Swede
1 x Acorn Squash
A number of carrots
2 x packs plain pork sausages (the only ones for breakfast)
3 x packs plain beef sausages (for a Toad in the Hole later in the week)

All gone now

The past few days have produced some of the most beautiful frosts I’ve ever seen. The day time temperature hasn’t risen above freezing point for 3 days so each morning there is frost on top of frost. It’s been a real treat driving the bus through countryside like this. This morning I’d intended to take the family on a short drive around the prettiest areas before going to the Farmers’ Market but by 08:30 this morning the temperature was up to 5C.

Yesterday I was able to take a few pictures so here’s some idea of how it’s been in Hampshire for the past few days.

A black pheasant

A couple of times I’ve seen a black pheasant in one area I pass through on the way to Salisbury. The bird I see is even more black than this bird, apart from the redness on the head it’s a shimmering black all over!

On Monday I had the perfect opportunity to photograph it but didn’t have my camera with me. On Monday morning we had a couple of snowflakes at about the time I turn into a very rural uphill lane. I got halfway up the lane and the bus just slowed and stopped with the wheels spinning! No choice, since I couldn’t go forward I’d have to go backwards all the way down the lane to main the road. Progress therefore was pretty slow. Then I saw it, the black pheasant was in the ditch alongside my window! I’m about 12 feet from it and haven’t got my camera. Aaaaaaaargh!

Where you sit on a bus can define your personality

This is according to Dr Tom Fawcett of Salford University. It’s all been written up in the Daily Telegraph.

He knows where forward-minded people, the independent thinkers, strong communicators etc. will sit. What he doesn’t reveal though is the personality type of those who choose the driver’s seat on the bus :-)
