In the book there is a &#8216;photo described as &#8220;Holiday crowds at Waterloo Station. The queue started from the main entrance, into York Road round the bomb site and beyond 24th July 1948&#8221;  The real surprise in the picture is that a mobile phone already appears to be in use, despite Wikipedia saying &#8220;Bell Labs installed the first commercial cellular network in Chicago in the 1970s&#8221;.
